Bark George
(baby-preschool)
Bark, George acquaints the youngest of kids with the dilemma of finding your own voice when pressure's on to sound like everyone else. Jules Feiffer translates his trademark irony into tot terms in this story of a dog and his worried mother. She's so frustrated with all the non-dog sounds he makes that she takes him to a vet who pulls a series of other animals out of him. But this cure is only temporary; after his first arf, George starts speaking human on the way home, an ending all the more satisfying for not satisfying.
