King Bidgood's in the Bathtub
(baby-preschool)
King Bidgood's in the Bathtub (and he won't get out) confirms the addictive joy of bathing, or at least of sitting in a hot tub. The simplicity of Audrey Wood's chant-like text dovetails with the baroque detail of Don Wood's painted illustrations. There's always a little something more to notice in the scenes, whether it's the troutstream transposed into the tub or the elaborately royal but soggy lunch. In the end the youthful page comes up with a solution for the absentee monarch problem, nicely demonstrating that children can see things adults miss.
