In Eric Carle's Draw Me a Star, the figure of the artist is commanded to draw a star. One imagined thing leads to another: the star wants the sun, the sun wants a tree to shine on, the tree wants people. The artist makes them all appear on the page (in Carle's vivid collage-work).
